Role Overview

Funovus is hiring a 2D Artist to join its on-site team in Redwood City, California. This full-time role involves collaborating with designers and artists to define and refine visual styles while producing high-quality 2D game assets, including characters, environments, and props.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with game designers and artists to experiment with and refine visual styles.
  • Partner with the project lead to deliver high-quality assets on schedule.
  • Develop concepts and designs for characters, environments, and props.
  • Create polished 2D in-game assets aligned with the project’s artistic direction.
  • Ensure deliverables meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback to external artists and contributors.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Concept Artist or 2D Artist in the gaming industry.
  • Strong research skills to gather references and inspire creative solutions.
  • Ability to design characters, environments, and props across diverse themes and styles.
  • Experience working within established artistic styles and guidelines.
  • Strong sketching ability to solve visual challenges efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep passion for game development.
  • Ability to work on-site in Redwood City, California.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Strong drawing and rendering skills.
  • Experience in mobile game development.
  • Familiarity with 2D animation or VFX tools such as Spine, After Effects, or Flash.
