Job Overview
Nike is seeking a 3D Designer to join the Energy Collaboration team within the Footwear Design Studio in Los Angeles. This full-time role focuses on rapidly visualizing footwear concepts in 3D, translating sketches into refined digital models, and integrating generative AI workflows and 3D printing to accelerate design innovation.
You will collaborate closely with Footwear Product Designers, development teams, and engineering partners to bring creative visions to life while maintaining Nike’s brand and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate footwear design sketches into high-quality 3D concept models.
- Partner with designers to capture design intent and identify potential development challenges early.
- Apply generative AI workflows to accelerate concept exploration and ideation.
- Leverage 3D printing and additive manufacturing to produce rapid physical prototypes.
- Create professional renderings using industry-standard rendering tools and material libraries.
- Ensure models follow engineering best practices for development handoff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Asia partners, to maintain production readiness.
- Uphold Nike brand protection standards and follow KIT authorization protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–2 years of experience in a 3D design role.
- Proficiency in poly modeling using tools such as Maya, Blender, Rhino, or similar software.
- Experience with rendering packages including Cycles, Arnold, V-Ray, or KeyShot.
- Strong understanding of footwear construction fundamentals (bite-lines, offsets, proportions).
- Ability to translate 2D sketches into refined 3D models with production-quality detail.
- Willingness to learn and implement generative AI workflows for design innovation.
- Portfolio demonstrating 3D modeling, rendering, and concept execution capabilities.
