Role Overview

The Donovan’s Venom is seeking a 3D Game Animator (Character, Creature & Cinematics) to help bring its game project to life. This volunteer role focuses on creating dynamic character and creature animations and assembling cinematic sequences directly within Unity.

This is a recurring volunteer opportunity requiring approximately 15–20 hours per week. Volunteers must be based in the United States or Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D character and creature animations using tools such as Blender or Maya
  • Import and integrate animations directly into Unity
  • Assemble cinematic sequences using Unity Timeline, Cinemachine, or similar tools
  • Prepare and organize animation assets for gameplay integration
  • Collaborate with designers and programmers to align animations with gameplay and narrative goals
  • Optimize animations for performance and smooth in-game presentation
  • Document animation workflows and maintain structured asset libraries

Qualifications

  • Experience with Unity and 3D animation workflows
  • Proficiency in Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or equivalent tools
  • Strong understanding of character movement, creature behavior, and animation timing
  • Experience with rigging, retargeting, and Unity Animator/Timeline systems
  • Strong attention to detail and animation polish
  • Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback
  • Interest in mission-driven or educational game development is a plus
