Tesla is hiring a 3D Generalist for its Vehicle Software UI Design team. In this role, you will contribute to the creation of high-quality digital assets, environments, and photorealistic visualizations for in-vehicle systems. Your work will directly impact Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy through cutting-edge visualization experiences.
Job Overview
As part of the in-vehicle Visualization Team, you will design and build real-time and pre-rendered automotive content. This includes developing environments, optimizing assets, and producing photorealistic vehicle visuals used across Tesla’s digital ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Create realistic and stylized virtual environments and 3D assets
- Optimize scenes and assets for both real-time and offline rendering
- Develop clean topology models within polygon count constraints
- Design and prototype materials using PBR workflows
- Set up lighting, atmospheric effects, UV mapping, and texturing
- Render high-quality photorealistic vehicle and product visuals
- Capture and process real-world assets using photogrammetry techniques
Required Qualifications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating 3D generalist skills with focus on vehicles and environments
- Solid understanding of artistic principles including lighting, composition, and color
- Experience with PBR workflows and tools such as Substance 3D
- Proficiency in DCC tools like Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and Photoshop
- Ability to balance artistic creativity with technical constraints
- Experience with photogrammetry tools (e.g., RealityCapture) is a plus
- Prior experience in game studios (e.g., AAA titles) is highly desirable
