Job Overview
As a Senior Environment Artist, you will take ownership of large environment sections, from early concept development to final in-engine implementation. The role requires a strong artistic eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively in a AAA game development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with level designers and art directors to align with project vision
- Design and build immersive 3D environments supporting gameplay and narrative
- Create architecture, foliage, and props using photo references and concept art
- Develop rough level layouts and iterate based on feedback
- Set up placeholders and manage asset requests across teams
- Optimize environments for performance within game engine constraints
- Troubleshoot artistic and technical challenges during production
- Conduct research and gather references for level ideation
Required Qualifications
- Strong portfolio showcasing 3D environment and prop creation
- Experience in AAA game development with at least one shipped title
- Expertise in tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter/Designer
- Understanding of modern game engines and performance optimization
- Strong artistic skills in composition, color theory, and visual storytelling
- Ability to solve visual and technical challenges efficiently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under deadlines and adapt to evolving requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
