About the Project

A Boston-based writer of a weekly newspaper advice column for dogs is seeking a skilled 2D Animator to create a 2-minute animated talk show episode featuring realistic dog characters. The concept is a humorous take on a “Dear Abby”-style advice format, brought to life through engaging character animation and expressive storytelling.

This is a personal project with the potential for ongoing collaboration once a repeatable production template is developed.

Project Overview

  • Create realistic 2D character models and full rigging for two main dogs: Frankie and Rufus.
  • Animate a radio/talk show studio environment with hosting, conversation, and caller interactions.
  • Handle expressive facial animation and lip sync using provided voiceovers.
  • Deliver a polished 2-minute final render.
  • Provide guidance for creating similar videos independently in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and rig realistic 2D dog characters based on provided images.
  • Animate talk show scenes including dialogue, reactions, and performance nuances.
  • Create and animate supporting “caller” dog characters.
  • Synchronize lip movements accurately with supplied voiceover audio.
  • Ensure expressive performance that reflects each character’s personality.
  • Communicate timeline estimates and project milestones clearly.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Mid-level experience in 2D animation or character animation.
  • Strong experience animating realistic animals.
