Job Overview
As a Lead Animator, you will shape the vision for gameplay animation while remaining hands-on in creating high-quality animations. You will collaborate closely with designers and artists, mentor team members, and ensure cohesive animation direction across the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead animation design and implementation in collaboration with the design team
- Develop project schedules, workflows, and resource plans
- Monitor team performance, morale, and production progress
- Identify risks and implement preventive solutions
- Communicate animation direction clearly to the team
- Review and validate animation work to meet quality standards
- Collaborate with producers, artists, and animators for alignment
- Continuously improve processes and workflows
- Support planning efforts with the production team
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industry experience in animation
- 3+ years in animation-focused roles
- 2+ years of leadership or mentoring experience
- Full-cycle game development experience (concept to shipping)
- Experience managing remote teams
- Proficiency in Maya, Unity and/or Unreal Engine
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., ClickUp)
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to work core hours (10am–4pm CST)
- Familiarity with ARPGs and live-service pipelines
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Game Design, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
