Job Overview
The Lead Technical Animator will play a key leadership role in developing and supporting a team of technical animators while contributing hands-on expertise to AAA game development. This role involves creating high-quality rigs, improving animation pipelines, and collaborating closely with art and animation teams.
You will drive innovation in animation workflows, build efficient tools, and ensure high standards of quality across all animation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of technical animators, including hiring and performance management
- Create and supervise high-quality character, body, and facial rigs
- Collaborate with art and animation teams to solve technical challenges
- Develop and improve animation pipelines, tools, and workflows
- Research and implement new technologies to enhance production quality and efficiency
- Work with production teams to define schedules and roadmaps
- Create and maintain documentation for tools and animation processes
- Ensure seamless integration of animation systems into game engines
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of anatomy, body mechanics, and character movement
- Proven experience in rigging and technical animation
- Advanced proficiency in Python scripting within Autodesk Maya
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration skills
- Ability to solve complex technical and creative challenges
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Computer Graphics, Game Development, or a related field is preferred.
