Role Overview
Roblox is seeking a Senior 3D Artist to join a fast-moving “0 to 1” innovation team focused on creating immersive, culture-defining experiences. This role emphasizes environment art, world-building, and lighting design while also contributing across characters, objects, and interactive assets.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, strategy, and creative teams to craft scalable solutions and push the boundaries of immersive experiences within Roblox Studio.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build immersive environments and layouts directly in Roblox Studio.
- Establish lighting direction, atmospheric effects, and next-generation time-based lighting setups.
- Prototype characters and in-world objects to optimize performance and expression.
- Execute rapid prototyping cycles to support experimentation, playtests, and live launches.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with strategy, engineering, and design teams.
- Provide guidance to external creators and identify reusable workflows and scalable asset systems.
- Explore new platform capabilities and optimize materials and textures for technical scalability.
Required Qualifications
- 6–10+ years of experience in game development, interactive media, or immersive environments.
- Expertise in 3D environment art, lighting, materials, and world composition.
- Experience across multiple 3D asset types including characters, vehicles, and props.
- Strong understanding of real-time rendering constraints and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in Blender, Maya, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer.
- Knowledge of character systems, animation, physics, and evolving AI/automation workflows.
- Ability to operate effectively in collaborative and fast-paced R&D environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building large-scale immersive worlds with narrative depth.
- Familiarity with proprietary engines and scalable content pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach to workflow optimization.
- Experience supporting live events or performance-driven interactive content.
