Job Overview

As a Senior Environment Artist, you will take ownership of large environment sections, from early concept development to final in-engine implementation. The role requires a strong artistic eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively in a AAA game development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with level designers and art directors to align with project vision
  • Design and build immersive 3D environments supporting gameplay and narrative
  • Create architecture, foliage, and props using photo references and concept art
  • Develop rough level layouts and iterate based on feedback
  • Set up placeholders and manage asset requests across teams
  • Optimize environments for performance within game engine constraints
  • Troubleshoot artistic and technical challenges during production
  • Conduct research and gather references for level ideation

Required Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio showcasing 3D environment and prop creation
  • Experience in AAA game development with at least one shipped title
  • Expertise in tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter/Designer
  • Understanding of modern game engines and performance optimization
  • Strong artistic skills in composition, color theory, and visual storytelling
  • Ability to solve visual and technical challenges efficiently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and adapt to evolving requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
