Job Overview
Scattermesh is hiring an experienced VFX Artist to join their team in Herndon, VA. This full-time role involves creating photorealistic simulations using advanced tools and techniques. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in physics-based simulations, 3D modeling preparation, and rendering, along with hands-on experience in tools like Houdini, EmberGen, and LiquiGen.
Responsibilities
- Create photorealistic 3D VFX sequences including waves, smoke, fire, and explosions.
- Collaborate with 3D artists and compositing teams to produce high-quality visual outputs.
- Develop templates, scripts, and tools to improve the VFX production pipeline.
- Ensure simulations are physically accurate and visually compelling.
Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years of professional experience in VFX and dynamic simulations.
- Advanced expertise in Houdini.
- Experience with EmberGen, LiquiGen, or similar simulation tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation for pipeline optimization.
- Strong understanding of physics, mathematics, and physically based simulations.
- Solid grasp of 3D rendering, lighting, materials, and motion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Effects, Animation, Computer Graphics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
