About the Role
One of Us is seeking a Senior FX Lead to drive the development of high-quality visual effects for film and episodic productions. This role combines creative direction with technical leadership, ensuring the delivery of complex simulations and effects that meet the highest artistic standards.
You will collaborate closely with the Head of FX, CG Supervisor, and VFX Supervisor, while mentoring a team of FX artists and contributing to pipeline improvements.
Job Overview
- Lead and supervise FX production across multiple shots and sequences.
- Develop complex simulations using Houdini and related tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality FX work.
- Contribute to pipeline development and workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support FX artists, providing regular feedback and guidance.
- Interpret creative briefs and translate them into efficient FX solutions.
- Develop and implement realistic and stylized simulations.
- Ensure all FX shots meet artistic and technical standards within deadlines.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges in FX production workflows.
- Establish and improve FX pipelines, tools, and best practices.
- Assist with shot planning, scheduling, and breakdowns.
- Collaborate with Animation, Lighting, Compositing, and Rigging teams.
- Participate in dailies, reviews, and stakeholder communications.
- Report progress and raise concerns to the Head of FX and production teams.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead FX Artist in VFX or animation.
- Expert-level proficiency in Houdini.
- Strong understanding of physics, dynamics, and natural phenomena.
- Experience with rendering pipelines and FX optimization.
- Knowledge of scripting (e.g., Python) for automation is a plus.
- Familiarity with renderers such as Mantra, Arnold, and Solaris.
- Experience with Maya and other relevant FX tools.
- Excellent artistic judgment and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Education
A degree in Animation, Visual Effects, Computer Graphics, or a related field is preferred.
