Job Overview
Roblox is seeking an experienced 3D Artist to join The Kitchen, its internal creative studio. In this role, you will create cinematic character animations, expressive poses, and high-impact 3D key art visuals for marketing campaigns, trailers, and social media content. This position requires expertise in composition, lighting, rendering, and storytelling to shape how millions of players experience the Roblox brand.
Responsibilities
- Rig, pose, and render characters for static compositions such as posters, banners, thumbnails, and social campaigns.
- Animate characters, creatures, and props for cinematic sequences, gameplay trailers, and promotional content.
- Create expressive performances that convey emotion, personality, and narrative beats.
- Build and stage environments to enhance composition and visual storytelling.
- Collaborate with designers, marketers, editors, motion designers, and producers to deliver compelling visuals.
- Optimize assets for both high-resolution print and digital platforms.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback from creative leads and stakeholders.
- Maintain efficient file structures and workflows for smooth project handoffs and version control.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in 3D motion design, character animation, or video post-production.
- Strong understanding of character rigging, anatomy, and motion principles.
- Proven experience as a 3D character animator with a polished demo reel.
- Portfolio showcasing key art, posed renders, composition, lighting, and storytelling.
- Strong grasp of visual design fundamentals including composition, color, lighting, and silhouette.
- Proficiency in tools such as Cinema4D, Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance, and Redshift.
- Experience with compositing and finishing renders using After Effects and Photoshop.
- Ability to adapt quickly to feedback and collaborate effectively.
- Strong communication skills and comfort presenting work for critique.
- Detail-oriented with a cinematic eye for storytelling.
