Job Overview

Mob Entertainment is seeking a Senior Technical Artist – Lighting Pipeline to lead and optimize the Unreal Engine 5 lighting and bake pipeline for Poppy Playtime. This role bridges Environment Art and DevOps, focusing on developing automation tools, improving workflows, and ensuring high-quality lighting performance across platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the UE5 lighting and bake pipeline from configuration through validation.
  • Develop distributed bake workflows and lightmap UV tooling.
  • Create and maintain Python and Unreal Editor tools that automate environment and lighting tasks.
  • Integrate lighting workflows with Perforce and Jenkins infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate validation and monitor pipeline telemetry.
  • Diagnose and resolve bake failures, lighting artifacts, and performance regressions.
  • Profile and optimize lighting performance across PC and console platforms.
  • Use Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, and GPU profilers for debugging and optimization.
  • Create technical documentation and troubleshooting guides for environment artists.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for lighting and bake pipeline issues studio-wide.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the games industry with at least two shipped titles.
  • Strong experience in a Technical Artist role within game development.
  • Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 lighting and bake pipelines.
  • Advanced Python scripting skills, including Unreal Python API experience.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing graphics performance using Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, and GPU profilers.
  • Experience working with Perforce stream workflows.
  • Experience integrating Unreal Engine workflows with Jenkins or similar CI systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote production environments.
  • Strong understanding of technical art pipelines and automation workflows.
