Job Overview
Mob Entertainment is seeking a Senior Lighting Artist to craft the atmospheric lighting that defines the Poppy Playtime universe. This role focuses on building suspenseful, cinematic lighting setups within Unreal Engine 5 while collaborating with environment, VFX, and art direction teams to deliver visually impactful horror experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement optimized baked lighting across game environments using Unreal Engine 5 GPU Lightmass workflows.
- Create atmospheric lighting setups that enhance mood, tension, and narrative storytelling.
- Collaborate with environment artists, VFX artists, and art directors to maintain visual consistency.
- Develop and maintain lighting standards, documentation, and best practices.
- Optimize lighting performance across PC and console platforms without sacrificing visual quality.
- Prototype new lighting effects, cinematic looks, and dynamic lighting systems.
- Contribute to post-processing workflows including bloom, lens flares, and color grading.
- Participate in art reviews and cross-discipline critique sessions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level lighting artists.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the games industry with at least three shipped titles.
- Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 lighting and GPU Lightmass pipelines.
- Strong understanding of real-world lighting, photography, and cinematography principles.
- Proven experience creating horror, suspenseful, or atmospheric lighting styles.
- Experience optimizing lighting for real-time PC and console performance.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for remote production environments.
- Experience with cinematic lighting and dynamic lighting systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of color grading, LUT workflows, and semi-stylized PBR environments is preferred.
- Experience mentoring or leading lighting artists is beneficial.
