About the Role

A leading university client is seeking a skilled 2D/3D Cartoon Animator to join on a 3–6 month contract with strong potential for extension or conversion based on performance. This hybrid role is based in Palo Alto, California, with occasional in-person meetings required.

The position focuses on creating engaging cartoon-style animations featuring human characters (patients) using digital cutout and puppet animation techniques.

Job Overview

The selected candidate will work as a Video Editor and Animator, responsible for editing compelling video content and producing high-quality 2D/3D animations. The role requires expertise in character rigging, motion graphics, and digital puppet animation without frame-by-frame redrawing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw footage into polished, professional video content
  • Create 2D/3D cartoon animations and motion graphics
  • Design and animate human characters using digital cutout/puppet rigging techniques
  • Collaborate with creative teams to align with project vision and objectives
  • Manage media assets and maintain organized project files
  • Ensure consistent quality, style, and brand alignment across deliverables
  • Meet deadlines while maintaining high production standards
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions efficiently

Skills & Requirements

  • 4–5 years of professional experience in video editing and animation production
  • Strong experience in 2D and/or 3D cartoon animation
  • Expertise in digital cutout/puppet animation and character rigging
  • Proficiency in Final Cut Pro (required)
  • Strong understanding of animation principles and storytelling
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and respond to feedback effectively
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Media Production or a related field is required.
