Role Overview

EA Studios – Respawn is hiring a Senior Environment Artist to contribute to the Star Wars Jedi franchise. In this hybrid, 12-month temporary role, you will design and build immersive 3D environments that bring the Star Wars galaxy to life.

You will collaborate with designers, art leads, and engineers to create high-quality, performant environments using Unreal Engine workflows and advanced modeling and texturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality, believable 3D environments and assets for AAA gameplay experiences.
  • Design and implement detailed textures and realistic materials.
  • Build out game levels while maintaining strong artistic vision and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with designers and art leads to ensure environments align with the game’s creative direction.
  • Optimize art assets for performance and ensure they fit within memory budgets.
  • Identify and fix visual or technical bugs as needed.
  • Follow production schedules and deliver assets on time.
  • Mentor junior environment artists and share technical knowledge.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Senior Environment Artist in games or similar industries.
  • Strong proficiency in Maya, Blender (or equivalent 3D software), Substance, ZBrush, and Photoshop.
  • Deep understanding of modeling, texturing, scale, proportion, and surface properties.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 5 and modern game development pipelines.
  • Ability to polish gameplay moments to AAA quality standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional production environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building large-scale, immersive game worlds.
  • Familiarity with proprietary engine tools and advanced asset optimization workflows.
  • Leadership experience mentoring environment art teams.
  • Passion for cinematic storytelling and world-building within the Star Wars universe.
