Role Overview

Room 8 Studio is seeking a Cinematic Technical Artist who thrives at the intersection of creativity and technology. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient cinematic pipelines while supporting high-quality in-game cinematics.

You will act as a bridge between artistic vision and technical execution, ensuring smooth workflows, optimized assets, and seamless integration across real-time engines and DCC tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, organize, and maintain real-time game engine and DCC animation scenes.
  • Import, update, and manage mocap, performance capture, and animation data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the cinematic production pipeline.
  • Ensure scene and asset data meet project-specific requirements and hardware performance standards.
  • Manage various asset types within DCC and real-time production workflows.
  • Evaluate workflows and propose improvements to tools and processes.
  • Create clear technical documentation and user guides for production workflows.
  • Support the final creative vision set by Art and Creative Directors.
  • Identify animation content issues and resolve them proactively.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time game engines such as Unreal Engine, Frostbite, Unity, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of engine technical limitations and optimization requirements.
  • Experience with DCC tools such as Maya and MotionBuilder.
  • Ability to troubleshoot asset pipeline and animation workflow issues.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce, Git, or ShotGrid.
  • Organized, proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in AAA game or cinematic production pipelines.
  • Familiarity with mocap pipelines and animation import/export workflows.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python, MEL, Blueprints, etc.).
  • Experience working with MetaHuman.
  • Passion for optimizing workflows and preventing technical bottlenecks.
