Job Overview
Electronic Arts is seeking a Runtime Technical Artist to support the development of immersive maps and gameplay experiences
for the Battlefield franchise. In this role, you will collaborate with artists, engineers, and designers to ensure high-quality real-time
performance while maintaining the creative vision of the game.
The position focuses on optimizing runtime performance, improving content workflows, and supporting teams with technical solutions inside
the Frostbite engine. This role operates in a hybrid work model at Criterion’s UK studio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support artists and content teams in building high-quality gameplay maps and storytelling experiences.
- Collaborate with engineers, artists, and designers to improve runtime performance and visual quality.
- Work within the Frostbite engine to optimize assets, lighting, shaders, and visual effects.
- Assist with asset management and content performance analysis across gameplay environments.
- Develop and maintain workflows for procedural content, VFX, lighting, and shaders.
- Analyze technical data and present clear insights to help creators improve performance and efficiency.
- Research technical solutions and guide discussions to balance creative vision with real-time performance.
- Participate in collaborative development with the technical art team across various aspects of map creation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience creating levels inside a game engine with a focus on runtime performance.
- Experience working on at least 1–2 shipped PC or console titles.
- Strong understanding of art pipelines, engine workflows, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in technical art areas such as VFX, shaders, lighting, scripting, or procedural workflows.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or C#.
- Understanding of real-time game development requirements for efficient and high-quality content.
- Ability to analyze complex technical data and provide actionable feedback to artists and designers.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Passion for video games and interactive entertainment.
Education
A degree in Computer Graphics, Game Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent professional experience in technical art or game development will also be considered.
