Job Overview

Twinkl is seeking a talented Mid Level Animator / Rigger to join its growing animation team. In this role, you will create engaging 2D animations and motion graphics for educational digital products used by children and educators. You will collaborate with illustrators, product teams, designers, and audio specialists to produce high-quality animated content that supports interactive learning experiences.

This is a remote full-time position based in the United Kingdom, working 37.5 hours per week with core hours between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with animation planning including scriptwriting and storyboard development.
  • Create high-quality 2D animations for storytelling, explainer content, motion stories, and in-app features.
  • Develop engaging visual content aligned with Twinkl’s creative style and educational tone.
  • Collaborate with illustrators, audio engineers, game designers, and product managers.
  • Lead advanced 2D character rigging and asset preparation to support animation production.
  • Work with asset creators using tools such as Moho to prepare artwork and animation files.
  • Maintain proper file organisation, naming conventions, and animation pipeline workflows.
  • Manage deadlines effectively by estimating task timelines and identifying potential blockers.
  • Share insights and improve team workflows through continuous learning and collaboration.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in 2D animation, motion graphics, or a related field.
  • Strong storytelling ability through animation and visual motion design.
  • Proficiency in Moho, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Solid understanding of animation principles, timing, and character motion.
  • Experience collaborating within creative teams and maintaining shared visual styles.
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D character rigging and animation asset setup.
  • Ability to work within structured production pipelines and technical constraints.
  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback.
  • A professional portfolio demonstrating a range of animation work.
  • Bonus: Experience with Lottie animations or educational content production.
