Job Overview
The 3D Artist will contribute to the development of immersive Navy training solutions, including simulations and Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI). The role involves working across the full 3D asset pipeline—from concept creation to real-time integration—while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for training systems.
- Develop optimized, game-ready assets for Unity or similar real-time engines.
- Produce animations including mechanical movements and object interactions.
- Collaborate with Instructional Designers to ensure technical accuracy.
- Work with engineers to integrate assets and meet performance standards.
- Participate in design reviews to maintain visual consistency.
- Troubleshoot rendering and performance optimization issues.
- Support testing, debugging, and refinement of 3D assets.
- Apply creative problem-solving to evolving technical requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, 3D Animation, Digital Media, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
- Strong texturing skills using Substance Painter/Designer or Photoshop.
- Understanding of real-time workflows (LOD, UV mapping, PBR pipelines).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Navy or defense training environments.
- Experience in real-time animation production.
- Understanding of instructional design principles.
- Knowledge of UI/UX for training applications.
- Experience working with technical drawings or schematics.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, 3D Animation, Digital Media, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education.
