About the Role

WPP Production is seeking an experienced Lighting Artist with strong Houdini look development expertise to create premium automotive and product visualizations for global advertising campaigns. This hybrid role combines artistic lighting skills, procedural workflows, and technical problem-solving to produce visually stunning CGI content.

Job Overview

You will develop high-end visual effects, lighting, rendering, and procedural simulations using SideFX Houdini while collaborating with CG supervisors, producers, and creative teams. The position requires balancing creative excellence with technical optimization to deliver photorealistic results within fast-paced production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Look Development: Create high-quality lighting, look development, and rendering for automotive and product visualization projects.
  • Procedural Workflows: Build and maintain efficient Houdini procedural systems for scalable production.
  • Simulation: Develop dynamics and simulation effects including rigid bodies, Vellum, FLIP fluids, Pyro, and particle systems.
  • Rendering: Produce optimized renders using V-Ray while ensuring visual consistency and realism.
  • Creative Collaboration: Work closely with CG supervisors, art directors, and producers to achieve creative objectives.
  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot production issues, optimize scenes, and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Research & Development: Contribute to pipeline improvements, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the studio.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience using SideFX Houdini for look development, lighting, and procedural workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of dynamics and simulations including RBD, Vellum, FLIP, Pyro, and particle systems.
  • Experience with V-Ray rendering and lighting workflows.
  • Proficiency with Maya and/or 3ds Max within automotive or product visualization pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of product animation, materials, lighting, and photorealistic rendering.
  • Python or VEX scripting experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Visual Effects, Computer Graphics, Multimedia, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent professional experience in Houdini-based VFX production will also be considered.
  • Additional certifications in Houdini or CGI production tools are beneficial.
