About the Role

2K Sports Lab is seeking a Lead UI Artist to define and drive the visual direction of user interfaces for a next-generation sports franchise. This leadership role combines artistic vision, technical implementation, and team mentorship to create engaging and intuitive player experiences.

Job Overview

The Lead UI Artist will work closely with the Art Director, UX Designers, Engineers, and production teams to create visually compelling interfaces that enhance gameplay. You will oversee UI art development from concept through implementation while maintaining consistency, quality, and usability across the entire game experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • UI Vision: Establish and maintain a distinctive UI art style that supports the overall game vision and player experience.
  • Asset Creation: Design high-quality interface visuals, concepts, icons, and polished assets while ensuring consistency throughout development.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the UI team, providing guidance, feedback, and support to achieve high-quality results.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with UX Designers, Engineers, and Art Directors to integrate interfaces seamlessly into gameplay.
  • Technical Implementation: Implement UI assets within Unreal Engine using UMG while addressing technical and production challenges.
  • Motion Design: Create motion graphics, UI animations, and video content that enhance player interaction and visual engagement.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading UI development and shipping UI for at least one AAA game title.
  • Expert proficiency with Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong experience using Unreal Engine and UMG for interface implementation.
  • Proficiency in After Effects and Premiere Pro for animation and motion graphics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience within game development teams.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across art, design, and engineering disciplines.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Communication, Interactive Media, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Training in motion graphics, game UI design, or interactive media is beneficial.
  • Portfolio demonstrating high-quality UI design and implementation work is required.
