Job Overview
Ruckus Games is seeking a Senior Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and engineering teams. In this role, you will develop technical solutions, optimize workflows, and improve production pipelines to support high-quality game development in Unreal Engine.
The ideal candidate has a strong balance of artistic understanding and technical expertise, thrives in collaborative environments, and is passionate about building scalable tools and shaders that elevate visual quality while maintaining performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to integrate assets into Unreal Engine.
- Develop and improve workflows, tools, and content pipelines for the art team.
- Create, maintain, and optimize shaders that support the game’s artistic direction.
- Analyze asset inefficiencies and optimize game performance across art systems.
- Work closely with programmers and artists to balance visual quality and technical efficiency.
- Create mockups and prototype assets to support design collaboration.
- Help identify and solve technical limitations within art production pipelines.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in game development with at least one shipped title.
- Advanced experience building tools and workflows in Unreal Engine.
- Strong understanding of modeling, texturing, and material creation pipelines.
- Advanced shader development knowledge for Unreal Engine.
- Ability to evaluate and improve technical art workflows for efficiency and scalability.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience using content creation tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, Substance, or Photoshop.
- Proven ability to support and execute artistic vision through technical solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of procedural content generation techniques.
- Knowledge of machine learning applications in game development workflows.
- Experience working in collaborative remote development environments.
