Job Overview
The Game Designer II will own medium to large-scale gameplay systems and live-service initiatives from concept through launch and post-launch optimization. The position requires strong systems thinking, data-informed decision-making, detailed documentation, and experience with mobile F2P game design.
The role will cover live events, matchmaking, leaderboards, rewards, progression, economy systems, and improvements to the new-to-mid game player journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Feature Ownership: Design and deliver medium to large-scale systems, economy features, progression improvements, and live-service initiatives for Golf Clash.
- System Design: Develop interconnected gameplay and progression systems that improve the player journey while maintaining long-term depth.
- Live Events: Design event structures, pacing, rewards, segmentation, leaderboards, matchmaking rules, and feature-surfacing logic.
- Game Economy: Define and tune currencies, Club Cards, reward sources, progression flows, sinks, and player value exchanges.
- Documentation: Create detailed design documents covering player goals, requirements, dependencies, edge cases, success metrics, and tuning decisions.
- Data Analysis: Use telemetry, playtest feedback, player sentiment, competitive research, and KPIs to guide feature tuning and iteration.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, UX, art, product, analytics, QA/QV, and production teams to deliver polished and scalable features.
- Mentorship: Review peer designs and support junior designers through design feedback, documentation reviews, and tuning discussions.
- Competitive Research: Evaluate modern mobile F2P and casual games and translate relevant findings into opportunities for Golf Clash.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional game design experience, preferably within mobile F2P or live-service games.
- Experience owning systems, economy features, live events, progression, or player journey improvements from concept through live operation.
- Strong understanding of systems and economy design, player behavior, game balance, retention, engagement, and monetization.
- Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience using metrics, telemetry, playtesting, and player feedback to tune interconnected game systems.
Education
- Degree or equivalent professional background in Game Design, Game Development, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience in game design may be considered alongside formal education.
