About the Role

Electronic Arts is seeking a Senior Object Artist to join the Maxis team behind The Sims franchise in Vancouver. This role offers the opportunity to create high-quality stylized game assets while contributing to one of the world’s most beloved life simulation games in a collaborative and creative environment.

Job Overview

As a Senior Object Artist, you will create visually compelling and technically optimized game assets while collaborating with production, design, animation, and art leadership teams. You will also influence workflows, mentor peers, and contribute to feature development from concept through final implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D Assets: Model, texture, UV, rig, and skin stylized game objects including furniture, machinery, and organic assets.
  • Deliver Production Content: Produce game-ready content that meets production, design, animation, and art direction requirements.
  • Lead Feature Execution: Oversee object feature designs, present concepts to stakeholders, and support aligned team execution.
  • Prototype and Document: Create placeholder assets, prototypes, project documentation, and production estimates.
  • Optimize Visual Quality: Consult on shader improvements, tune lighting, and ensure assets perform efficiently across various hardware specifications.
  • Collaborate and Mentor: Host meetings, support peers, and help resolve technical and artistic challenges throughout production.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in game art development for PC, console, or mobile titles.
  • Strong proficiency with Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Marmoset, and Photoshop.
  • Extensive experience with stylized art production, PBR workflows, and hand-painted texture pipelines.
  • Experience modeling and texturing hard surface and organic assets for games.
  • Strong understanding of rigging, skinning, lighting, composition, and shader application.
  • Ability to optimize assets and textures for performance across multiple platforms.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Fine Arts, Animation, Digital Arts, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio may substitute for formal education.
  • Additional training in 3D modeling, technical art, or game asset creation is beneficial.
