Electronic Arts is hiring a Senior Environment Technical Artist to join the EA SPORTS Technology team in Vancouver. Job Overview
As a Senior Environment Technical Artist, you will work closely with art leadership, technical artists, and engineers to develop realistic and stylized stadiums, arenas, and environments. The role focuses on creating benchmark assets, optimizing workflows, developing materials, and delivering visually stunning content for EA SPORTS titles.
Key Responsibilities
- Create Environment Assets: Develop high-quality geometry, architectural assets, materials, and shaders for diverse environments.
- Build Photorealistic Materials: Produce PBR-compliant tiling, layered, and atlas materials using industry-standard workflows.
- Develop Production Content: Create environmental assets from greybox concepts through final in-game implementation.
- Optimize Asset Pipelines: Analyze concepts and references to identify modular workflows, asset reuse opportunities, and efficient production strategies.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with designers, lighting artists, engineers, and technical artists to solve production challenges and implement content.
- Improve Workflows: Explore and refine techniques, best practices, and production workflows to improve quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience creating environment assets and complete levels for games.
- Expert knowledge of Maya or comparable 3D software packages.
- Strong experience with Unreal Engine, Frostbite, Unity, or other advanced game engines.
- Advanced skills in architectural modeling, modular construction, composition, and lighting.
- Proficiency in Substance Painter and Substance Designer for creating photorealistic materials.
- Strong understanding of memory budgets, GPU optimization, and performance best practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Digital Arts, Computer Graphics, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience in environment art or technical art may be considered.
- Additional training in 3D art, shader development, or game engine workflows is beneficial.
