Job Overview

Walt Disney Animation Studios is seeking versatile CG Character Animators to bring unforgettable characters to life through compelling acting, movement, and emotional storytelling. This role involves collaborating with directors and animation supervisors to create high-quality animation for feature films and related projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create vibrant and compelling character acting and movement that reinforces the film’s established style.
  • Use digital tools such as Presto to produce quality animation for feature films and related projects.
  • Plan and block animation shots using story and character context, including audio dialogue tracks.
  • Present performance ideas and shot blocking during animation dailies and director reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, animation supervisors, and other team members.
  • Implement revisions and complete shots according to the production schedule.
  • Adapt to various stages of production, including development and production.
  • Maintain professionalism and flexibility regarding feedback and changing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of acting, appeal, entertainment, weight, locomotion, anatomy, and dialogue.
  • Ability to create believable and engaging character performances.
  • Ability to design timing, spacing, rhythm, and contrast into animation.
  • Strong artistic eye for exaggeration, shape language, and emotion.
  • Inventive storytelling and performance choices that elevate scenes.
  • Ability to contribute new ideas and adapt to feedback.
  • Proficiency in Presto, Maya, or equivalent animation software.
  • A demo reel under 2 minutes showcasing strong character animation and storytelling.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Background in traditional hand-drawn, computer, or stop-motion animation is a plus.
