Job Overview
Flying Bark Productions is seeking an experienced CG Lighting Artist to join its Lighting & Compositing team in Sydney. In this role, you will collaborate closely with compositors and creative leads to achieve the visual goals set by the VFX Supervisor. You will play a critical role in executing and delivering the high-quality visual style of animated productions.
Responsibilities
- Create and refine lighting setups for high-quality 3D animated films and episodic productions.
- Work closely with compositors and creative leads to achieve the desired creative brief.
- Use Arnold and Katana for lighting and rendering workflows.
- Create pre-composite trees in Nuke to combine rendered elements.
- Maintain consistency of lighting across all assigned shots.
- Optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering issues in a fast-paced production environment.
- Collaborate with compositors to bring shots from lighting through to final delivery.
- Meet production deadlines and quotas set by production coordinators.
- Interpret both verbal and visual creative briefs accurately.
- Identify and predict potential production issues and proactively solve them.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of production experience in 3D animated films and/or animated episodic series.
- Strong portfolio showcasing graphic stylisation of reality, inspired by projects like Spider-Verse, Entergalactic, Arcane, and The Witness.
- Experience lighting and rendering with Arnold using Katana.
- Experience using Nuke for pre-compositing workflows.
- Strong understanding of lighting consistency and cinematic composition.
- Excellent troubleshooting and optimization skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive team dynamics.
- Strong communication and self-management skills.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and responsiveness to production changes.
