Job Overview
EA is looking for a skilled Character Artist to join its Shanghai-based EA Create team. This role acts as a key connection point between teams, ensuring alignment with artistic vision while contributing creatively to high-quality 3D character production.
You will oversee art quality, support team development, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain consistency, innovation, and performance in character creation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Art Director in maintaining high visual quality and artistic consistency.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to improve art pipelines and workflows.
- Research and implement new tools, techniques, and art styles.
- Coordinate with production managers to manage daily team activities.
- Identify production risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and guide artists through feedback, reviews, and growth plans.
- Ensure alignment of internal and external teams with project art direction.
- Oversee and maintain quality standards in 3D character creation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in AAA game development as a character artist or lead.
- Strong expertise in human anatomy, hard surface modeling, fabric sculpting, and hair creation.
- Advanced knowledge of shape language, silhouette, and color theory.
- Ability to work across a wide range of art styles.
- Experience contributing to creative direction, visual targets, and prototypes.
- Strong understanding of real-time character production workflows.
- Experience with mainstream game engines.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to provide clear and actionable feedback through various formats.
- Experience in optimization, implementation, and debugging with technical art teams.
Education
A degree in Fine Arts, Game Art, Animation, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
