Electronic Arts is looking for an Assistant Game Designer to join the EA SPORTS FC team in Vancouver. This opportunity allows you to contribute to one of the world’s leading football simulation franchises by creating engaging and authentic gameplay experiences for millions of players globally.

Job Overview

The Assistant Game Designer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop gameplay features from concept to release. Working closely with animation, art, audio, engineering, and design teams, you will help shape innovative football gameplay experiences while supporting the overall vision of EA SPORTS FC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Gameplay Features: Develop gameplay systems and features from initial concepts through implementation and release.
  • Create Player Experiences: Design unique gameplay experiences tailored to various EA SPORTS FC game modes.
  • Document and Communicate: Clearly communicate gameplay designs, feature requirements, and implementation details to development teams.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with animation, art, audio, programming, visual effects, and design teams to deliver polished features.
  • Provide Feedback: Evaluate gameplay quality and provide constructive feedback to improve player experiences.
  • Improve Processes: Contribute to the evolution of design tools, workflows, and development processes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in game production, game design, or quality verification roles, or graduation from a recognized game design program.
  • Strong understanding of game design principles, processes, and gameplay development techniques.
  • Passion for football and deep familiarity with the EA SPORTS FC franchise.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on game quality and player experience.
  • Technical proficiency working with 3D game engines.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

Education

  • Degree or diploma in Game Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary game design program is advantageous.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered in place of formal education.
