About the Role

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented Gameplay Animator to join an exciting unannounced project. This temporary role offers the opportunity to create compelling character and creature animations while helping shape the visual identity of Blizzard’s next genre-defining game.

Job Overview

The Animator will collaborate closely with artists, designers, engineers, and technical teams to develop engaging gameplay experiences through high-quality animation. You will contribute to animation style development, asset integration, and the creation of efficient production pipelines in a fast-paced development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Gameplay Animations: Develop high-quality animations for a wide variety of characters and creatures that enhance gameplay experiences.
  • Define Visual Direction: Partner with the animation team to establish and refine the project’s animation style and artistic vision.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with designers, engineers, and technical artists to integrate animation assets into the game engine.
  • Support Pipeline Development: Help create and maintain effective animation pipelines that enable rapid prototyping and iteration.
  • Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Identify and resolve technical challenges related to animation implementation and asset integration.
  • Contribute to Team Success: Collaborate within a small, highly creative team to deliver engaging gameplay experiences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional animation experience in game, animation, or VFX studios.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, body mechanics, and movement.
  • Extensive experience animating characters and creatures using Maya or equivalent 3D software.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine and node-based animation systems.
  • Strong understanding of human and creature anatomy.
  • Experience creating animation blend trees and working with gameplay animation systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Game Art, Fine Arts, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience supported by a strong portfolio will also be considered.
  • Additional training in character animation, rigging, or game development is advantageous.
