About the Role
Certain Affinity is seeking a talented Senior Gameplay Animator to join its experienced AAA game development team in Toronto. In this role, you will help create highly polished in-game animations for AAA and original IP titles while collaborating with designers, artists, and engineers to deliver immersive gameplay experiences.

Job Overview
- Create high-quality gameplay animations for AAA game titles
- Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Lead Animators, and Design teams
- Support animation integration and implementation within Unreal Engine
- Mentor junior and mid-level animators on workflows and techniques
- Develop both realistic mocap-driven and stylized hand-keyed animations
Responsibilities
- Work with the Art Director, Lead Animator, and Design team to integrate motion into immersive gameplay experiences
- Implement and test animation assets in-engine for quality and accuracy
- Mentor other animators on animation techniques, workflows, and production processes
- Create a wide range of animations including realistic motion capture and stylized hand-keyed animation
- Support gameplay systems through strong animation timing, pacing, and visual storytelling
- Contribute to workflow improvements and animation pipeline development
- Help establish new animation tools for internal and co-development teams
- Maintain animation quality while meeting gameplay and performance requirements
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience in the game industry focused on character and object animation
- Shipped at least 2 game titles as an animator
- Expert-level understanding of animation principles
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5
- Strong knowledge of gameplay animation pipelines and workflows
- Experience developing new workflows and animation tools
- Ability to work across realistic and stylized animation styles
- Experience with both keyframe animation and performance capture workflows
- Understanding of technical and performance constraints for current-generation console and PC games
- Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills
- Experience mentoring animators and artists within a production environment
- Ability to establish visual direction independently without detailed concept guidance
