Sony Pictures Animation is seeking an Assistant Editor – Features to support editorial workflows across animated feature productions from pre-production through post-production. The role focuses on maintaining efficient editorial organization, supporting editors, and managing production assets within fast-paced animation pipelines.

Job Overview
The Assistant Editor will manage Avid projects, process storyboards, organize dialogue and sound assets, and support screening preparation and publishing workflows. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask under production deadlines.
Candidates should possess a solid understanding of feature animation editorial pipelines and demonstrate proficiency with professional editing software and production management tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Management: Maintain organized Avid projects and editorial file structures throughout production.
- Storyboard Processing: Manage and process storyboard assets using Flix while importing layout, animation, and lighting shots.
- Dialogue Preparation: Import, log, and prepare dialogue recordings including ADR and production audio sessions.
- Asset Organization: Organize sound effects, music assets, and production materials from multiple departments.
- Screening Support: Assist editors with Avid builds, screenings, QC reviews, and output preparation.
- Production Publishing: Manage EDLs, change notes, and publishing workflows for production teams.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in animation editorial or post-production.
- Strong proficiency with Avid Media Composer.
- Understanding of feature animation workflows and editorial pipelines.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines within fast-paced production schedules.
- Experience with After Effects, Photoshop, or ProTools is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Animation, Media Production, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional editorial experience may substitute formal education.
- Knowledge of animation post-production workflows is highly beneficial.
