About the Role

Mob Entertainment, the studio behind the globally recognized Poppy Playtime franchise, is seeking a Senior Storyboard Artist to support its expanding cinematic and animated productions. This role will play a key part in visualizing compelling stories, action sequences, and cinematic experiences before production begins.

Job Overview

The Senior Storyboard Artist will collaborate with creative leadership, designers, animators, and production teams to develop engaging visual narratives. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional storytelling abilities, strong cinematography knowledge, and advanced experience with previs and cinematic workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visual Storytelling: Create high-quality storyboards, animatics, and previsualization sequences that effectively communicate story, pacing, and cinematic intent.
  • Sequence Development: Translate scripts, creative briefs, and stakeholder feedback into compelling visual sequences.
  • Shot Design: Drive camera blocking, shot composition, and cinematic staging for action-driven and narrative sequences.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with directors, artists, designers, and production teams to align visual storytelling with project goals.
  • Previs Production: Assemble environments, cameras, characters, and sequences using 3D tools and real-time engines.
  • Workflow Leadership: Establish previs standards, best practices, and mentor junior artists or external partners.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Identify storytelling and production challenges early and provide effective visual solutions.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in previsualization, storyboarding, animation, film, television, or game development.
  • Advanced proficiency in Unreal Engine, Maya, Blender, or similar visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, shot composition, camera movement, and editorial pacing.
  • Excellent knowledge of cinematography, visual language, and production workflows.
  • Experience independently leading previs sequences from concept through final delivery.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills in collaborative environments.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Film Production, Fine Arts, Game Art, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience in storyboarding, previs, or cinematics may substitute for formal education.
  • Additional training in cinematography, visual storytelling, or animation is advantageous.
