About the Role

Mob Entertainment, the creative studio behind the massively popular Poppy Playtime franchise, is seeking a Contract VFX Artist to create immersive real-time visual effects for its games. This role focuses on delivering atmospheric, stylized, and gameplay-driven effects that enhance player immersion and storytelling.

Job Overview

The VFX Artist will collaborate closely with art, design, and engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize high-quality visual effects in Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate has strong technical and artistic skills, with experience creating compelling real-time effects for games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Real-Time Effects Creation: Design and produce high-quality visual effects for gameplay, environments, cinematics, and interactive sequences.
  • Gameplay Enhancement: Develop effects that improve player feedback, readability, and emotional impact during gameplay.
  • Unreal Engine Development: Build, iterate, and polish effects using Unreal Engine and Niagara systems.
  • Artistic Collaboration: Work closely with art directors and designers to ensure visual consistency with the project’s style and tone.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize VFX assets for memory usage, scalability, and real-time performance across multiple platforms.
  • Asset Management: Maintain organized documentation and ensure efficient management of VFX assets and workflows.
  • Iterative Improvement: Quickly revise and refine effects based on team feedback and production requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience creating real-time VFX for games.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing stylized, atmospheric, or gameplay-focused visual effects.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, with Niagara expertise strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of shaders, materials, and particle systems.
  • Ability to balance artistic quality with technical performance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Effects, Game Art, Animation, Computer Graphics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience with a strong portfolio may substitute for formal education.
  • Additional training in real-time VFX, technical art, or game development is beneficial.
