About the Role

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an experienced Senior Animator to join its Cinematics team on a temporary basis. This opportunity involves creating high-quality cinematic animations for epic animated films and game experiences while collaborating with passionate artists and filmmakers.

Job Overview

The Senior Animator will craft compelling performances for a diverse range of characters and creatures, ranging from stylized to realistic. Working closely with directors, supervisors, and fellow artists, the role focuses on delivering world-class cinematic animation that meets Blizzard’s renowned quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Cinematic Animation: Produce high-quality hand-keyed character and creature animations for cinematic sequences.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work alongside Directors, Animation Supervisors, and Leads to develop and refine cinematic performances.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure animations consistently meet Blizzard’s high artistic and technical expectations.
  • Support Team Growth: Provide constructive artistic and technical feedback to help evolve team workflows and processes.
  • Adapt to Production Needs: Contribute effectively within a fast-paced production environment while handling shifting priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in game development, film, or television animation.
  • Proficiency in Maya or an equivalent 3D animation software.
  • Strong understanding of body mechanics, acting, and the 12 principles of animation.
  • Demonstrated experience creating high-quality hand-keyed character performances.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Film, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience in animation or cinematic production will also be considered.
  • Additional training in filmmaking, acting, or visual storytelling is advantageous.
