Internship Overview
The NHL Creative Services Department (CSD) is seeking a highly creative and motivated Graphic Design student to join its 2026 Summer Internship Program.
This paid internship offers hands-on experience within a fast-paced professional sports league environment. The Creative Services Design team leads the design, development, and implementation of the NHL brand across all consumer touchpoints, providing interns with meaningful exposure to in-house design operations.
Internship Duration: June 2026, approximately 6–8 weeks
Work Schedule: In-person at the NHL NYC office at least four days per week
Application Deadline: Sunday, March 1, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design team and production workflows
- Assist in the design and production of print and digital creative assets
- Organize and archive league assets, including logos, style guides, and imagery
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute campaign design concepts
- Update player assets and images, including selection, retouching, and silhouetting
- Conduct research on creative trends to inform design strategies
Qualifications
Required
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong design portfolio demonstrating layout, typography, and branding expertise
- Ability to take creative direction and collaborate in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Proactive mindset with willingness to seek feedback
- Passion for sports and entertainment marketing
Preferred
- Experience with animation and motion graphics
- Knowledge of hockey
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited university or college pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
