Job Overview

As a Senior Environment Artist, you will lead the creation of immersive game environments from concept to final in-engine implementation. This hands-on role involves building large-scale environments, landmarks, and asset systems while ensuring strong visual storytelling, performance optimization, and artistic consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own environment creation from concept, blockout, to final polish in-engine
  • Design large-scale environments, vistas, and landmark spaces
  • Create high-quality modular kits, hero assets, and props
  • Develop complex materials and shader systems
  • Translate concept art into optimized, real-time environments
  • Handle scene assembly, layout, and world-building tasks
  • Optimize assets for performance, memory, and scalability
  • Define and maintain environment art best practices
  • Collaborate with design, technical art, and engineering teams
  • Identify production risks and propose early solutions
  • Ensure consistency with the project’s art direction
  • Mentor junior artists and contribute to team quality standards
  • Own environment-related features and deliverables
  • (Optional) Contribute to lighting and mood development

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in game environment art
  • At least one shipped game title
  • Strong understanding of real-time pipelines and workflows
  • Expertise in modern game engines and optimization techniques
  • Experience building large-scale environments and vistas
  • Proficiency in modular asset creation and scalable systems
  • Knowledge of material creation and shader implementation
  • Ability to balance artistic vision with technical constraints
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Self-driven with the ability to take ownership of large features

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time lighting and mood creation
  • Background in level design
  • Experience working on open-world or large-scale projects
  • Knowledge of scripting or procedural workflows
  • Strong understanding of composition, color, and storytelling
  • Experience in ARPG game development
