Job Overview

Avalanche is seeking a highly talented Senior Concept Artist specializing in environments and characters to join its veteran art team. In this individual contributor role, you will help establish world-class art culture and pipelines while collaborating with internal teams and external outsourcing/co-development partners to deliver exceptional visual assets for an online multiplayer RPG.

Key Responsibilities

Create and iterate on characters, enemies, creatures, and environment concepts.
Produce sketches, detailed renderings, and turnarounds for props, environments, and characters.
Collaborate with project leadership to define and maintain the game’s visual style.
Provide informal mentoring, feedback, and guidance to junior artists.
Work closely with internal teams, outsourcing partners, and co-development studios.
Maintain high-quality standards while meeting deadlines under pressure.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of progressively complex industry experience or equivalent with a BA in Art or related field.
Strong collaboration and mentoring skills.
Exceptional foundational art skills and in-depth artistic knowledge.
Strong understanding of human and animal anatomy for realistic rendering.
Knowledge of costume design, geography, geology, terrain, flora, and architecture throughout history.
Strong grasp of color theory, value structure, lighting, and realistic material rendering.
Understanding of industrial design, form, and function.
Knowledge of modern matte painting techniques.
Passion for current video games and understanding of the game’s IP.
Excellent communication, organization, and production skills.
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
Portfolio/website showcasing industry-leading concept art and illustration skills.
