Nintendo Software Technology is looking for an Associate Environment Artist I to join its game development studio in Redmond, Washington. This role focuses on creating stylized textures, 3D assets, and environmental content that support high-quality entertainment experiences for Nintendo games.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for game art, strong Substance Designer experience, and the ability to collaborate within a creative production environment focused on innovation and craftsmanship.
Job Overview
The Associate Environment Artist I will contribute to the creation of visual assets including textures, 3D models, animations, and environmental elements for game development projects. Working closely with the art and production teams, the artist will help maintain Nintendo’s high standards of visual quality and polish.
This hybrid position requires onsite collaboration in Redmond, WA while supporting ongoing development tasks across multiple production pipelines and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment Asset Creation: Assist in developing high-quality 3D environmental assets, textures, and visual elements for digital entertainment projects.
- Texture Authoring: Create stylized hard surface and organic textures using Substance Designer and related production tools.
- 3D Content Production: Contribute to illustrations, 3D models, animations, and environmental assets for gameplay experiences.
- Pipeline Collaboration: Work within established game development pipelines and adapt assets for engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary systems.
- Quality Assurance: Review and test assets during development to ensure they meet Nintendo’s standards for quality and performance.
- Tool Proficiency: Utilize commercial and proprietary art tools effectively while maintaining organized production workflows.
- Feedback Integration: Respond quickly to creative feedback and implement revisions efficiently within project timelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in game development with at least one shipped game title.
- Strong artistic and technical skills in 2D and 3D art production.
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary development tools.
- Proficiency with software including Photoshop, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to feedback and production changes in a team environment.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Art, Game Art, Animation, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience and portfolio work may be considered.
- Additional training in game environment production or texture creation is beneficial.
