About the Role
Cloud Chamber is seeking a talented Level Artist to help shape the next installment of the BioShock franchise. This role focuses on building visually stunning and immersive 3D game environments that support engaging gameplay experiences within a collaborative AAA development studio.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to create high-fidelity sci-fi and stylized worlds while contributing to the artistic vision and technical quality of the game.
Job Overview
The Level Artist will create layouts, architectural structures, modular kits, and environmental details that bring believable game worlds to life. The role involves iterative world-building workflows, collaboration with design and narrative teams, and maintaining technical compliance within Unreal Engine 5 production pipelines.
This hybrid position based in Montréal, Quebec offers the opportunity to contribute to a world-class AAA gaming experience while working alongside experienced developers across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment Creation: Build visually compelling and gameplay-supportive 3D environments, layouts, and architectural structures.
- World Building: Develop modular kits, collection sets, and prop placeholders to create believable and immersive spaces.
- Iterative Design: Gather references, refine compositions, and continuously improve environmental assets through iteration and feedback.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Level Design, Modeling, Narrative, Combat, Cinematics, and Concept teams to align creative goals.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure assets follow production standards and technical requirements established by Tech Art and Core Tech teams.
- Asset Organization: Create and maintain organized asset libraries grouped by theme and function.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with leads, production teams, and peers to meet project goals and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience working on AAA 3D game projects, preferably FPS or third-person titles.
- Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 and environment art production workflows.
- Experience creating stylized or sci-fi game worlds and modular environment kits.
- Understanding of world building principles including form, structure, silhouette, and spatial design.
- Familiarity with architecture, industrial design, and immersive level design systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary strike teams.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Education
- Degree in Game Art, Environment Design, Architecture, Multimedia, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience and portfolio work may also be considered.
- Additional interests in photography, lighting, film, or drawing are beneficial.
