About the Role

That’s No Moon Entertainment is seeking a Senior Game Designer to help create immersive, narrative-driven AAA experiences. Working within a multidisciplinary Level Design team, you will shape engaging gameplay spaces that blend exploration, storytelling, combat, and player agency into memorable experiences.

Job Overview

In this role, you will take ownership of complex levels from concept through final implementation using Unreal Engine. You will collaborate with designers, artists, engineers, and production teams to deliver polished gameplay experiences that support both narrative and gameplay objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Gameplay Spaces: Create and deliver immersive levels that combine exploration, narrative storytelling, and combat encounters.
  • Develop Unreal Content: Build and maintain gameplay assets, scripted events, interactions, and systems using Unreal Engine tools including Blueprints and Sequencer.
  • Implement Combat Encounters: Design, iterate, and refine combat scenarios while collaborating with combat designers and gameplay teams.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with animation, art, engineering, production, and technical design teams to achieve project goals.
  • Drive Iteration: Balance creative vision, technical constraints, and player experience through continuous testing and refinement.
  • Mentor Designers: Provide feedback and guidance to fellow designers while promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience building and shipping levels in Unreal Engine from concept to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of Blueprints, Sequencer, scripting systems, animation systems, and gameplay implementation.
  • Experience with world partition, data layers, optimization, and large-scale content management.
  • Understanding of AI behaviors, player flow, spatial markup, and navigation implementation.
  • Strong level design, pacing, readability, and environmental storytelling skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional development environments.
  • Proven ability to take gameplay content from prototype through polished release.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional experience in AAA game development may substitute for formal education.
  • Training in level design, gameplay systems, or narrative design is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of shipped game content is highly valued.
