Mob Entertainment, the studio behind the massively successful Poppy Playtime franchise, is seeking a Contract Senior Gameplay Programmer to help create immersive and memorable gameplay experiences. This remote opportunity allows experienced developers to work on player-facing systems and mechanics that contribute directly to the studio’s growing portfolio of interactive entertainment.

Job Overview

The Senior Gameplay Programmer will collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to prototype, implement, and refine gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5. The role focuses on delivering scalable, high-performance gameplay features while maintaining technical quality and supporting rapid creative iteration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gameplay Development: Design, implement, and polish player mechanics, interactive systems, puzzles, and gameplay features.
  • System Architecture: Build scalable and maintainable gameplay code while ensuring performance and reliability.
  • Unreal Engine Integration: Utilize Unreal Engine 5 systems including animation, physics, AI, input, and Gameplay Ability System features.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with designers, artists, and fellow engineers to transform creative concepts into polished gameplay experiences.
  • Debugging & Optimization: Identify issues, refactor systems, profile performance, and improve development workflows.
  • Feature Ownership: Take gameplay features from design documentation through implementation, testing, and final release.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of professional game development experience.
  • At least 2 shipped titles developed using Unreal Engine, preferably Unreal Engine 5.
  • Strong experience with Unreal Engine Blueprints and Gameplay Ability System (GAS).
  • Proficiency in C++ programming and Blueprint/C++ integration workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking, AI systems, animation systems, physics, and gameplay architecture.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, communication, and collaboration skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional game development experience may be considered.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, including vectors, transforms, and linear algebra.
  • Continuous learning and experience with modern game engine technologies are highly valued.
