Mob Entertainment is seeking a Technical Audio Designer to help create immersive and emotionally impactful audio experiences for its growing portfolio of games. This role combines technical expertise with creative sound design to deliver engaging and reactive audio systems that enhance gameplay and storytelling.
Job Overview
The Technical Audio Designer will bridge the gap between audio and engineering teams by implementing and optimizing interactive audio systems in Unreal Engine. Working closely with sound designers, gameplay engineers, and technical teams, you will develop scalable audio solutions that strengthen the atmosphere and tension of the studio’s horror-focused experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio Implementation: Integrate and manage in-game audio using Unreal Engine’s native audio systems and MetaSounds.
- System Development: Design and maintain interactive audio systems including adaptive music, environmental audio, and tension-based sound systems.
- Pipeline Enhancement: Build tools, templates, and workflows that improve audio production efficiency and iteration speed.
- Technical Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to integrate audio features and resolve technical implementation challenges.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize audio memory usage, scalability, and runtime performance across supported platforms.
- Documentation & Support: Establish best practices, troubleshoot audio issues, and maintain clear technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical sound design or audio implementation for games.
- Strong experience with Unreal Engine audio systems and MetaSounds.
- Knowledge of interactive audio design and real-time audio implementation workflows.
- Experience collaborating with both creative and engineering teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Production, Sound Design, Music Technology, Game Development, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Training in interactive audio systems, game audio, or sound engineering is beneficial.
- Experience with programming or scripting for game development is advantageous.
