About the Role

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an experienced Storyboard Artist to join its Creative Development team for a temporary assignment focused on cinematics and storytelling. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on iconic entertainment franchises while collaborating with directors, producers, and creative leadership to craft compelling cinematic experiences.

Job Overview

The Storyboard Artist will create engaging storyboard sequences that support action-adventure and dramatic storytelling across Blizzard’s cinematic projects. Working closely with directors and production teams, you will help shape visual narratives while ensuring storyboards align with the studio’s creative vision and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Storyboards: Develop storyboard sequences from thumbnails through roughs to polished final boards that fulfill storytelling objectives.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Partner with Directors, Supervisors, and Producers to align storyboards with creative goals, style, and narrative vision.
  • Present and Revise Work: Pitch storyboard sequences to stakeholders, receive feedback, and implement revisions efficiently.
  • Support Production: Participate in script meetings, production discussions, and storyboard reviews to ensure project success.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure proper staging, cinematography, continuity, and storytelling principles are consistently applied.
  • Manage Deliverables: Follow established production guidelines for document management, file organization, and timely deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Storyboard Artist and/or Director.
  • Exceptional drawing skills with strong figurative and perspective draftsmanship.
  • Advanced understanding of staging, cinematography, composition, and filmmaking fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, Photoshop, Cintiq, and related production software.
  • Strong understanding of timing, screen direction, continuity, and cinematic language.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Illustration, Film, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience supported by a strong portfolio will also be considered.
  • Additional training in cinematography, visual storytelling, or film production is advantageous.
