About the Role

That’s No Moon Entertainment is seeking a Senior Narrative Gameplay Animator to help create immersive narrative-driven experiences for a AAA game project. Working alongside a talented team of developers, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality gameplay and scripted animations that seamlessly connect cinematic storytelling with interactive gameplay.

Job Overview

In this role, you will develop and integrate polished animations using Unreal Engine 5 while collaborating with animation, design, camera layout, technical art, and stage teams. You will contribute to creating narrative-focused gameplay moments that deliver emotional impact and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Gameplay Animation: Develop and integrate AAA-quality scripted gameplay animations within Unreal Engine 5.
  • Utilize Motion Capture: Work with motion capture data and hand-key animation techniques to achieve realistic and engaging performances.
  • Support Animation Pipelines: Help create and maintain animation workflows and Unreal Engine pipelines for scripted events.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with animators, designers, engineers, technical artists, and cinematic teams to ensure cohesive experiences.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Resolve animation workflow, rigging, and pipeline challenges while promoting best practices.
  • Participate in Motion Capture Sessions: Support motion capture shoots and ensure animation assets meet production requirements.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience working with motion capture data and hand-key animation in the game industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine, particularly animation systems and Sequencer.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Maya.
  • Experience creating and integrating scripted animations in game engines.
  • Understanding of gameplay animation techniques including blending, layering, and animation cycles.
  • Knowledge of cinematography and previsualization principles.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Animation, Game Art, Digital Media, or a related field preferred.
  • Formal training in character animation, gameplay animation, or cinematic animation is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated expertise through a professional demo reel is required.
  • Equivalent industry experience may substitute for formal education.
