Job Overview

Plaid is seeking a talented Motion Designer to join the Brand Studio team within its product organization. This role focuses on creating high-quality motion design across product experiences, brand foundations, and marketing campaigns.

You will collaborate closely with designers, marketers, engineers, and copywriters to translate static designs into thoughtful, scalable motion systems. This opportunity is ideal for a motion-first creative who balances craft with production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design and produce motion assets across product experiences, brand foundations, and marketing campaigns
Translate static designs and creative concepts into intentional, high-quality animations
Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, marketers, engineers, and copywriters
Manage production-heavy workflows including batching, versioning, and high-volume asset creation
Create motion prototypes, documentation, and animations to support implementation and handoff
Iterate quickly based on feedback and evolving project priorities
Elevate the overall quality and consistency of motion design across Plaid

Skills & Qualifications

Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in motion craft, timing, easing, composition, and layout
Ability to independently execute moderately complex motion projects from concept through delivery
Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners across product, brand, and marketing
Strong production experience including batching, managing asset volume, and light VFX
Clear communication of motion intent and design rationale
Proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Figma
Collaborative mindset with the ability to receive and apply feedback constructively

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Animation, Multimedia, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range of $151,200 – $208,800 per year for Zone 1 (New York City and San Francisco Bay Area)
Compensation varies by geographic zone and individual qualifications
Additional benefits may include equity, commission (if applicable), and comprehensive benefits packages
