Advanced Systems Group is seeking a skilled Director of Photography (DP) to lead the visual execution of studio and on-location productions. This role is ideal for a cinematography professional who excels at creating compelling visual experiences while collaborating with directors, producers, and production teams.
Job Overview
The Director of Photography will oversee camera operations, lighting design, and shot composition to ensure a consistent visual style across productions. Working on-site in New York, you will support a variety of projects while helping optimize production workflows and mentoring crew members on technical best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Cinematography Leadership: Direct camera operation, lighting setups, and shot composition to achieve the desired visual style for each production.
- Creative Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, and creative teams to develop and execute visual concepts.
- Lighting Management: Lead lighting crews, provide technical direction, and maintain professional lighting standards.
- Production Support: Assist with studio, remote, and on-location shoots while resolving technical and operational challenges.
- Equipment Oversight: Prepare, maintain, and manage camera and lighting equipment inventories and rental requirements.
- Workflow Improvement: Partner with production and editorial teams to enhance on-set processes and evaluate emerging production technologies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting studio and on-location video productions.
- Expert knowledge of professional camera systems and lighting equipment.
- Strong understanding of cinematography principles and visual storytelling techniques.
- Experience working in corporate production environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and adapt quickly in dynamic production settings.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Cinematography, Media Arts, Broadcasting, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional production experience may be considered.
- Specialized training in camera systems, lighting, or production technology is beneficial.
- Ongoing professional development in filmmaking and production techniques is valued.
