About the Role

Mob Entertainment, the creative studio behind the hit horror franchise Poppy Playtime, is seeking a talented Storyboard Artist to support animated and cinematic productions. This remote opportunity allows visual storytellers to help shape suspenseful and engaging narratives through compelling pre-production artwork.

Job Overview

The Storyboard Artist will work closely with directors, narrative teams, and artists to transform scripts and creative concepts into effective visual sequences. You will establish pacing, camera language, character staging, and emotional storytelling beats that align with the studio’s distinctive horror-focused style.

Key Responsibilities

  • Storyboard Creation: Develop clear and expressive storyboard sequences from scripts, animatics, and creative direction.
  • Visual Storytelling: Communicate camera angles, staging, action, transitions, and emotional moments effectively through storyboard panels.
  • Creative Collaboration: Work with directors and narrative teams to refine sequence flow, pacing, and storytelling rhythm.
  • Revision Management: Update and refine storyboards quickly based on feedback while maintaining project deadlines.
  • Production Delivery: Organize and deliver storyboard packages in required formats for production teams.
  • Consistency Maintenance: Ensure visual continuity with established character designs, environments, and project aesthetics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional storyboard experience in animation, games, film, or related industries.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling, composition, and sequence design skills.
  • Proficiency with Storyboard Pro, Photoshop, or equivalent digital illustration tools.
  • Excellent understanding of cinematic principles, pacing, continuity, and visual narrative techniques.
  • Ability to work from written scripts as well as verbal creative direction.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Illustration, Film Production, Visual Arts, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional storyboard experience may be considered.
  • Training in cinematic storytelling, animation, or sequential art is beneficial.
  • Portfolio demonstrating storyboard and visual storytelling expertise is required.
